OVERTON PARK SURGERY NEW BUILDING EXTENSIONS

**The building works have now been completed. Please note the Doctors have now moved to the new rooms at the Surgery. We hope you will find the new waiting room more comfortable with the additional space and new seating. Thank you for your patience during the building works.**

**OPENING TIMES**

Please note our Surgery opening times have
changed as from 1st December 2008:

Mondays and Thursday we are open from 8:30am until 7:30pm.
Wednesdays we are open from 8:30am until 6:30pm.
Tuesdays and Fridays we are open at 7:30am closing at 6:30pm.
We will also be open on two Saturdays during the month from 9:00am until 11:00am. 

**HEALTH VISITORS DROP-IN CLINIC**
Please note that from 01.07.2009 there will no longer be a drop-in clinic. You should instead book an appointment between 9:40am and 11:30am.

Out of Hours  
During the overnight and weekend hours, if you require medical attention, you should ring the Out-of-Hours telephone number (08454 220220).

Home Visits
Telephone: Cheltenham 580511 (press 3).  Patients whose illness prevents them from coming to the Surgery, can be visited in their own homes. However, on average, seeing you at home takes four times as long as seeing you in the Surgery, so please come along if you can.

Online Prescriptions
Order prescriptions online and book appointments via our Emis Access system.  You must register in the practice for this service.

Antenatal

876194.jpgWe have a Community Midwife, who attends the Surgery twice a week and runs the Antenatal Clinics. These clinic are on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Appointments for the Antenatal Clinic need to be prebooked with the Receptionist.


Baby

Our Health Visitors run a Baby Clinic on Wednesday mornings between 9.30am and 11.30am. Please telephone the Surgery to book an appointment.

The Practice Nurses run the Child Vaccination Clinic. This vaccination clinic is also held on Wednesday mornings at the Surgery between 9.30am-11.30am by appointment. Appointments for the Vaccination Clinic will be sent out when baby and pre-school booster vaccinations are due.


Contraception

The surgery offers conreaceptive coil and implanon fittings. Please make an appointment with the doctor should you wish to discuss these.
Appointments for these procedures need to be made at the surgery and not over the internet.


Cryotherapy

Dr Morgan runs the Cryotherapy Clinic, (freezing of warts, etc. using liquid nitrogen). The clinic is held every other week, on Tuesday afternoons. The clinic is by appointment and you will need a referral from your GP.

Diabetic

diabetes.jpgThe Diabetic Clinic is run (in co-operation with Cheltenham General Hospital) on Thursday afternoons between 2pm and 3.30pm by appointment.

Patients attending the Diabetic Clinic will either see a Practice Nurse or one of the GPs.


Family Planning

A full and confidential family planning service is available at the Surgery for women of all ages.  Please make an appointment with Heather, our Practice Nurse trained in contraception.

If you require emergency contraception, please ask to see the Doctor urgently.


Acupuncture

Dr Sarah Moliver offers a few Acupuncture appointments each week. The number of Acupuncture appointments is limited. Attendance for one of these specialised appointments is therefore strictly by referral from Dr Moliver or one of the other GPs.

If you would like to find out more about these Acupuncture appointments, please make an appointment to see Dr Moliver (during one of Dr Moliver's routine surgeries).


Flu

immunise.jpgThe Flu Clinics run during October and November every year. Influenza vaccinations are available to anyone who thinks they may be at risk.

The At Risk categories are:-

  • Over 65 years of age
  • Diabetics
  • Asthmatics
  • Anyone suffering from heart problems/disease
  • Immuno-suppressed patients
  • Any other chronic medical problem
  • Patients living in residential/nursing homes
  • Patients who are carers

For those unable to travel to the surgery, the Doctor, District Nurse or our Nurse for the Care of the Elderly may be able to offer you the vaccination in your own home.


Heart Disease and Stroke

The Heart Disease and Stroke Clinic is run by Tracey Moore (our Lead Practice Nurse), under the direction of Dr Wilson. This Clinic is run on Wednesday mornings.

If you suffer from any form of heart disease (e.g. previous heart attack, angina, etc) or have suffered a stroke/TIA, you will be sent regular invitations for a check-up in this Clinic.


Phlebotomy

The Phlebotomist (from Cheltenham General Hospital) runs a daily clinic at the Surgery.

The times of the Phlebotomy clinics are as follows:-

  • Monday 1.40 - 2.30pm
  • Tuesday 1.40 - 2.30pm
  • Wednesday 1.40 - 2.30pm
  • Thursday 12 noon - 1.30pm
  • Friday 1.40 -2.30pm


Stop Smoking appointments

If you would like help with giving up smoking, please ask  for an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses or Health Care Assistant.

Blood Tests

bloodsamples.jpgA phlebotomy clinic is held every day (Monday to Friday) at the Surgery in the early afternoon. 

You can book an appointment in the Phlebotomy Clinic for most types of blood tests apart from fasting blood tests and some INR blood tests.

 

Fasting Blood Tests

If you need a fasting blood test, please book an appointment with the Practice Nurse.  The Practice Nurses have reserved spaces for fasting blood tests every morning, (9.00 and 9.10am).

For a fasting blood test, you should have nothing to eat or drink APART FROM WATER from 6pm the evening before your test.

INR Blood Tests

It is possible to book an INR blood test with the Phlebotomist on Thursday lunchtimes. The Phlebotomist runs a lunchtime session from 12 noon to 1.30pm on Thursdays. On all other days, INR blood tests must be booked with the Practice Nurse during the morning session.


X-Rays

If your doctor has referred you to the Radiology Department at the hospital for an x-ray, the Radiology Department will notify you directly of your appointment time.

Test and X-Ray Results

If your test result is normal, the practice will not normally notify you. However if you would like to ring the surgery to check on any test results, please ring the Surgery Enquiries telephone number (01242 580511) after 3pm in the afternoon Monday - Friday.
