New appointments system

From 1st March 2013 the surgery will be modifying the appointments system which we hope will improve the care and continuity we offer our patients.
With the new arrangement, when you ring the surgery you will be offered 4 options:
1. Telephone consultation with usual Dr or Nurse Practitioner
2. Appointment with minor illness nurse on the day
3. Appointment with usual Dr on the day
4. Appointment with usual Dr in advance
The Doctors/Nurse practitioners will be offering specific time slots for telephone consultations each morning. If you feel your problem can be dealt with by speaking to your usual GP or one of our Nurse Practitioners, please request a telephone consultation.
The following problems should be dealt with by the Minor Illness Nurse:
Urinary tract infection
Cough or wheeze or sore throat
Ear/eye/sinus infections
Viral type illness/high temperature
Wound problems
Eczema
Skin infections
Emergency contraception

Please request an appointment with the Minor Illness Nurse if you are suffering from any of the above conditions.
More complex conditions can be dealt with by your usual GP. Please request a Dr appointment if this applies to you - either on the day if you feel this is necessary, or a book ahead appointment for a less immediate problem.

Requests for Home Visits should reach the surgery before 10am and are usually assessed on the telephone by a Doctor. Please note that visits are offered for patients who are truly housebound on medical grounds only.

blue_calendar.jpgYou may consult any of the Doctors but we would prefer you to see the same Doctor for each particular problem. Surgeries are arranged every morning, afternoon and evening Monday to Friday by appointment.  You will be offered the first available appointment, but if you have an urgent problem you will always be seen on the day, although not necessarily by the Doctor of your choice. If you are unable to keep your appointment please let us know in good time, so that it may be offered to someone else.

Doctors' Surgeries are arranged every morning, afternoon and evening, Monday to Friday by appointment. Appointments with the Practice Nurse are also available morning, afternoon and evening, Monday to Friday but cannot be booked online owing to the varying lengths of appointments for different procedures.

Appointments (with the Doctor or Practice Nurse) can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.

If you are 20 minutes late or more, then the Doctor or Nurse will not see you and you will have to rebook your appointment. If you are up to 20 minutes late then they will see you but you may have to wait until the end of their surgery. This is only fair to those patients who have kept their appointment time, otherwise everybody will end up being seen late.

Please note, in the interests of all parties, telephone calls to all our surgery telephone numbers are recorded for monitoring and training purposes.
